Root Canal Therapy

Any TOOTHACHE is serious. Just ask anyone who has experienced this condition.

Teeth may become distressed when exposed to hot, cold or sweet foods or in more serious cases you may experience pain when biting down on food.

A dull aching pressure in the jaw is also an unfortunate symptom and may be a sign you require root canal treatment.

Saving the natural tooth is always the best option. Don’t worry and our experienced dental team at Ivory Dental Care are here to help!

ROOT CANAL TREATMENT

A tooth causing any of the above symptoms of pain and/or swelling may be infected and require root canal treatment. An Infected tooth is also sometimes associated with an abscess or swelling in the jaw.

Root treatment is often the preferred choice to save an infected tooth as the only other option is to extract the problematic tooth which will then have to be replaced with either a fixed bridge, implant or removable denture.

Extractions

There are a number of different reasons a tooth may need to be extracted. Some teeth are removed because they are severely decayed; others may have advanced periodontal disease, or have broken in a way that cannot be repaired. Other teeth may need to be extracted because they are poorly positioned in the mouth (such as impacted teeth), or in preparation for orthodontic treatment. Sometimes, it is a matter of health in the case of infections, cysts or wisdom teeth. And primary teeth are frequently removed to create the space necessary to allow for other teeth to grow.

It is imperative to understand the removal of teeth can lead to problems related to your chewing ability, problems with your jaw joint, and shifting teeth, which can have a major impact on your dental health. So the dentist will also discuss with you replacing extracted teeth with implants, bridges and partial dentures.

The Extraction Process

Dentists at Ivory Dental care pride themselves on working with you to complete any needed extractions with as little discomfort as possible. We also offer nitrous oxide, oral conscious sedation and IV sedation if you are anxious. As each tooth is different, and extraction processes vary from person to person, dentist will sit down with you during your initial consultation and answer any questions you may have over the procedure.

Sedation Dentistry

Sedation dentistry is an excellent treatment for patients with extensive dental needs, or who are concerned about anxiety, difficulty getting numb, or sensitive teeth.
